Continental Pheasant Hunt
Experience the old world tradition of an English style Continental Hunt. A minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 hunters are permitted. The hunters will circle a tower located in the center of a large field, each at a peg, or shooting position. When all of the hunters are in position, a horn will sound and the birds will start to be released. The hunt is held in two phases. Hunters will rotate around the tower. This is to allow every hunter to have the opportunity to shoot from the position that the birds may be favoring for that day. The second phase will consist of the hunters forming groups with a guide and dog to hunt the missed birds that still remain in our bird fields.
Check in for the hunt begins at 8:30am at the lodge. The hunt will start at 9:30am. There will be hot chocolate and coffee, donuts and other light refreshments served at the lodge while you are waiting for all of the hunters to register and final preparations are made for the hunt.
After the hunt, an excellent lunch of grilled steak or chicken with all the "fixens" will be served for all the hunters. The birds that were harvested during the hunt will be breasted and divided equally among the shooters.
This hunt is unlike any other offered in Northeast Ohio. It is a great way to introduce young or new hunters to the sport of wing shooting. It is also great fun for the experienced shooter as well. Cahlik's Shooting Preserve is also able to provide this kind of hunt for corporate or private events.
